FUNDING

Source of Funds

The annual running costs of the organisation are covered in part by the grant received from the Department of Social Development. Thus it is also dependent upon contributions from the public, school fees, local schools, Lotto funding and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality awards which all help toward maintaining these services.

Funding received is strictly allocated against the expenditures required by the community.  Thus social services and our educare facility receive the bulk of the funds, a major portion of which are staff related.

In addition the Centre is in need of general painting and maintenance both inside and outside to ensure the continued well-being of the children in its care.

Details of these and other capital expenditure requirements are given in our Wish List.

BBBEE Credentials:-

Child Welfare SA - Edenvale provides an excellent opportunity to companies needing points for their Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment compliance:-

The organisation has a long tradition of service to the people of Edenvale.  Having been founded in 1950 to provide assistance to families in need, it has grown into pre-eminent NGO providing social services for the greater Edenvale area. It runs community outreach programmes into selected schools in the area and into the informal settlements at Makause and Marathon which border the organisation's area of responsibility. However, the most important and rewarding community project that it runs from a BBBEE viewpoint is the Pinocchio Educare Centre which we established in 1995 for children from low income earning families, all of which are currently from previously disadvantaged groupings.

Financial Credentials:-

The committee is made up of members from different racial and gender groupings and fulfils its oversight responsibility with due diligence.
